How to Add Markers in Ableton Live

Learn how to add and manage markers/locator in Ableton Live's Arrangement View to navigate and organize your projects efficiently

Ableton markers in project

Adding markers, also known as locators, allows you to quickly navigate and organize your project. This is especially useful for marking song sections like verses, choruses, and bridges.

What are Markers?

Markers (or locators) are visual reference points you can place on the timeline in Ableton Live's Arrangement View.

They help you quickly jump to specific parts of your track, making it easier to navigate and organize your project.

For example, you might place markers at the start of each verse, chorus, and bridge in your song.

How to Add Markers in Ableton

1. Switch to Arrangement View

Ensure you are in Arrangement View by pressing the Tab key or clicking the Arrangement View selector at the top-right of the screen.
